Do I have to tell my manager I am interviewing?

If you are selected for a line of business interview, your manager will receive a Workday automated email letting them know. Also keep in mind that your manager may be asked for feedback on your performance at this time as well.

When should I notify my manager?

You’re encouraged to notify your manager that you’ve applied for other roles, but you’re required to notify them if you’re selected to interview with the line of business. Also keep in mind that your manager may be asked for feedback on your performance at any stage of the hiring process. It’s important that you are having ongoing conversations regarding career development with your manager, as they are in the best position to help direct your career.

I just applied for a role. What are the next steps and/or what can I expect?

Once your application has been submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email. If you are selected to interview, you will be contacted by a Talent Acquisition representative.

The posting lists the location as an ’area’ and not a specific financial center (for example: Greater Norfolk, VA Area). What does that mean?

This means the role is within a financial center, but a specific financial center has not yet been identified. However, the financial center will be within a 25-30 mile radius of the area. If you’re selected for an interview, the specifics will be shared during that time.

What does ’anticipatory’ mean on a job posting?

An anticipatory opening falls within the financial centers only and is open for the entire market in which you post. If you are offered a position, you will train at one center, and then potentially move to another location within a 25 mile radius.

How do I view jobs for which I’ve applied?

Access Workday and click the Job Application and Referral icon. You can view all of your submitted and in progress applications by clicking on the ‘My Applications’ tab on the left of the screen.

I have applied for a role but would like to withdraw my application. How do I do that?

To withdraw your application, please log into Workday and click the Job Application and Referral icon. Click Withdraw Application, select the application you’d like to withdraw and click OK.

Assessments

Do I need to take an assessment to be considered for hire?

Some roles require an assessment. If one is required, you will either receive an email with instructions to take the assessment, or a Global Talent Acquisition partner will contact you with further instructions. If an assessment is required, be sure to take it in a quiet environment, free of distractions.

I am attempting to complete an assessment but am experiencing technical issues. How can I get this resolved?

Refer to the information provided in the assessment email notification for troubleshooting steps and contact information. Please wait until the issue has been resolved before continuing with the assessment.

I have a disability and believe I need a reasonable accommodation on the assessment. How should I proceed?

Bank of America employees should reach out to the Medical Accommodations Team. (You must be on the bank server to access this page.)

This position requires an assessment but I believe I have already taken it; do I have to take it again?

Many roles at Bank of America require an assessment, and while some may seem similar to each other, there are differences. So even if you think you have completed a given assessment, it’s important to click the link, read the instructions, and proceed as directed so that we can process your application.

If I’m unsuccessful on the assessment, when can I take it again?

In general, if you are unsuccessful on an assessment, you are eligible to retake the same assessment after six months.

Will I receive assessment results?

Global Talent Acquisition is unable to provide specific details regarding assessment results.

Why wasn’t I selected for an interview?

As Global Talent Acquisition reviews applications, they are looking for the most qualified candidates for the role. In many instances several candidates may meet the minimum qualifications but others have more experience. Only the top the candidates are presented to the hiring manager for review.

I feel I am qualified but was not invited to interview. What can I do to enhance my current experiences to increase my chances of getting an interview for this role in the future?

  • First, ensure your resume highlights qualifications or accomplishments that show your proficiency in the skills required for the role. This may require you to have several versions of your resume.
  • Global Talent Acquisition reviews applications/resumes of candidates to determine who will move on to manager review. Global Talent Acquisition may or may not conduct interviews to determine who moves on to the next step in the selection process. You may not have the opportunity to verbally expand on something within your resume so make what you have listed count.
  • Reach out to someone within that role (your manager can help to identify). Discuss the day in the life in that role. Ask what challenges they face, what competencies are important to have, and what they suggest you do from a development standpoint prior to the next posting.
  • Continue to expand your skill sets for that role. Get involved with work that improves on those skill sets. Stay connected! Ensure you come to mind when the hiring manager has a new opening.

The interview process

Do I have to tell my manager I am interviewing?

It’s recommended that you have ongoing conversations regarding career development and goals with your manager, as they are in the best position to help direct your career.

If you are selected for a line of business interview, your manager will receive a Workday automated email letting them know. Also keep in mind that your manager may be asked for feedback on your performance at this time as well.

I received a notification stating that my application was provided to the hiring manager for review; what can I expect as next steps in the process?

This indicates your application/resume is under review by the line of business. They will determine if you are one of the strongest applicants and whether or not you will be moving to the line of business interview. The timeframe can vary depending on the hiring manager’s schedule. Typically, the hiring manager or his/her designee will review all candidates within one week but this process could take up to two weeks. If you have not heard anything after two weeks of receiving this notification, please contact your Global Talent Acquisition partner.

I have been notified that the hiring manager reviewed my application and I’ve been selected to interview. When will someone reach out to schedule my interview?

This notifies you that the hiring manager has selected you to interview and includes requirements for you to inform your current manager of the pending interview. Typically, someone from the line of business or Global Talent Acquisition team will set up your interview within one week but could take up to two weeks depending on their schedule. If you have not heard anything after one week, please contact your Global Talent Acquisition partner.

What can I expect after the line of business interview?

Once the selected applicants have interviewed, you will be notified by email or phone as to whether or not you were selected to move to the next step in the process. Depending on the role and the number of applicants being considered this could take two-four weeks.

What is the salary range for the role?

Compensation for roles is determined by reviewing what the market pays for jobs with similar skills, responsibilities and scope to ensure competitiveness, as well as reviewing internally what the bank pays for these jobs. If you are selected to move forward in the hiring process, compensation will be discussed in further detail if an offer is presented.

Are all roles eligible to receive an incentive?

Not all roles are eligible for incentive. If you receive an offer, your Global Talent Acquisition partner will be able to answer any questions about the compensation and incentive for the role.  In addition your offer letter will indicate if the role is eligible for an incentive.

After you receive an offer

I received information saying I may need to have a background check completed in order to move into the new role. Would I need to do this even though I am an internal employee?

Federal law requires the company to conduct additional background checks for certain positions based on line of business or role-specific responsibilities. You will receive specific instructions if you are required to complete a background check.

What is the start date for this position?

If you’re selected for the role, start dates are typically two weeks after an offer is accepted but may be up to four weeks. Your Talent Acquisition partner would work with your current manager and your new manager to establish a start date for the role.
